      Today's 14 miles were harder than last Sunday's 18 miles. I spent the first 4 miles searching for where a friend's husband parked his car yesterday. He walked a lot and has mild cognitive decline. I found it at a location that I wondered out loud when talking with them whether it could be. Not sure why I didn't start there.

      Hi @bgizzi sorry didn't see this message until now but I went to your log entry of Sept 6 and found the digital award for your 1000 mile PR - belated congratulations! It may have to do with which device you're using to see or log your entries. I'm using my phone and just scrolled to all your logs and looked around Sept 9, and found it after your Sept 6 entry. Next entry I do later today, I'll upload a screenshot I took of your award, and will tag you. Hope to get in a run later today, Oct. 16, after having been MIA with work and family for a little while. (And by the way, you also got a digital award sometime this month for a 500-mile PR - another congratulations is in order!)

      I got a notification this morning. Hotmail said they removed me from receiving notice so they stopped them. I was able to reinstate. So odd because I opened notices daily! Usually only one because once into the site I was set for the day! I don’t understand any of this stuff! Anyway thanks for helping

      Belated congratulations on the finish atop Katahdin @Hydeel22 ! And if you are so inclined, you can actually keep logging miles and virtually summit Katahdin again and again, until the virtual race ends Dec. 31. If you're running the real-life Millinocket race this year, perhaps we'll see you at the traditional virtual race meet-up after the race, at the Sawmill Bar & Grill.

      @SparkyMoose That is what I was thinking too, but I was looking for confirmation or an alternate suggestion.
      I can see if there is a dropdown that can be added within Racery for kayaking
      Just added kayaking as a separate dropdown. Each minute kayaking translates to 0.07197 mi (or 4.318 MPH), while each minute of moderate activity equals 0.05 mi (or 3 MPH).

      My grandson is visiting from PA. Still being active but not as intense.. Important to spend time with family! Yesterday it was the Cog-rail on Mt Washington, today was swimming and kayaking. Tomorrow we visit the puffins and kayak and swimming.
      Have always wanted to do the Cog, especially with a nephew who loves trains! In the last virtual race we actually included the Cog and Mt Washington on the map, at the suggestion of @TomZot who's run the real-life races up Washington. Maybe the year we do the Cog, we'll add it back to the virtual race map!

      Just tagged the following virtual racing speed demons in a post on the Facebook group page: https://www.facebook.com/sa... @SparkyMoose @scottgif @DrI @Hydeel22 @CaptDave - you were all so fast in landing on or completing the Paris Olympics marathon route that I hadn't yet had a chance to design and embed custom red pin drops in the virtual race map. But they can now be viewed on the map, or in the Facebook post. As I can't keep up with everyone, be sure to look for new red pin drops being added to the various segments, for images, fun facts and relevant links, whether it's the 1st or 9th time around the virtual race course!
      I was noticing last night that there were some great 360 photos. Will check out pin drops as well!

      Hi @KejisMom - yes, there is a way to unsubscribe for the particular emails you don't like - plus after a few times of not opening some emails, they will automatically be shut off. I'll post specific instructions in the message board and tag you, so you know how to opt out.
      Hi @KejisMom -at the bottom of each Racery email, you should see the following - the copy and paste below is from the "comment notification" that you get only when someone tags you like I am right now in the messageboard. (It's interesting how different virtual racers like different types of email and frequency - some folks like getting email reminders every day about logging miles and miss them if there's some technical glitch preventing the daily email; others don't like getting any emails. So that's why at the bottom of each type of email, there's the ability to customize opting out.) "If you don't want to receive the Comment Notification, you can opt out on this page. [I don't provide a link here, because it's customized to your email] "Opt out of all emails for Acadia to Katahdin via Paris; Death Valley; Craters of the Moon here. "Unsubscribe from all Racery e-mails here." There are some emails that you might want to continue getting - such as the digital award certificate for finishing each segment, marking your completion of, for example, the 26 peaks of Acadia. Email is also how you would have received your virtual race bib. So you might not want to unsubscribe from all Racery e-mails, or all Acadia to Katahdin emails, if you want to get those sorts of digital certificates and bibs. Just unsubscribe from the ones you really don't want to get anymore. Hope that helps!

      Seems like my live activity on my Garmin that auto uploads to Strava does not transfer to racery.

      So it sounds like live miles on Strava will synch to Racery, but not Garmin to Strava to Racery. So many different devices! Don't know if there are any plans to add other platforms....

      trying to make this work still and not having any luck yet. The settings say strava is linked but my miles did not upload. I log on Garmin and auto upload to Strava. Maybe that is the issue or maybe I need to log a live event on Strava. I just did that. We'll see if it transfers.

      For virtual racers interested in logging virtual race miles through a wearable Strava device (@MaineJoe, @TomZot and others?) - at the bottom of the welcome virtual race email that included your Racery bib, you'll find the following bullet point - but SUBSTITUTE your virtual race name where the xxxx is (as my welcome email had AOMM where I put the xxxx placeholder): - If you want to log miles with a wearable device, please connect a Strava account here: racery.com/xxxx/settings. If you log via Strava, running/walking miles will register, and cycling and swimming minutes will convert. No other activities will transfer via Strava.

See the Eiffel Tower during this first-ever international segment of the Acadia to Katahdin Virtual Race!

    Next, to keep with the French theme, virtually scale Mount Lafayette in New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest to mark the 200th anniversary of Marquis de Lafayette's victorious return to the United States as the last surviving major general of the American Revolutionary War. This is 1 of 6 peaks on the Appalachian Mountain Club's New England Four Thousand Footer list you'll be climbing in this race, at just 8 feet lower in elevation than Katahdin's Baxter Peak, the highest in Maine.

    End the NH segment by paying your respects at the Old Man of the Mountain Historic Site - then go west virtual racers!

    Head to Death Valley in California as it celebrates its 30th anniversary of becoming a National Park, and on to Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in Idaho as it celebrates its Centennial.

    Then come on back to Maine, tour Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, virtually run the Millinocket Marathon & Half, and climb the 3 peaks of Baxter State Park that make the cut of the AMC's NE Four Thousand Footer list. Finish atop Katahdin, the state's highest peak.

    Details of the 8-segment, 239.4-mile course:

    Start atop Cadillac, the first place to see the sun rise in the USA between Oct. 7 and March 6, and virtually climb all 26 peaks of Acadia on Mount Desert Island in the first 59 miles of this virtual race.

    Then hop across the Atlantic to the Paris Olympics marathon route, which also serves as the debut course for the racewalking marathon mixed relay as an Olympic event.

    Return to the States to honor Marquis de Lafayette and the Old Man of the Mountain, in a 10-mile segment up over 5,260-feet Mount Lafayette, 5,089-feet Mount Lincoln and 4,459-feet Mount Liberty in the White Mountain National Forest, ending at the Old Man of the Mountain Historic Site in NH's Franconia Notch State Park.

    Head west for a 67.3-mile tour through Death Valley National Park - too dangerous to hike in real-life in the summer heat after 10 AM, but safe to run, hike and walk it at any time of the day virtually! - as it marks the 30th anniversary of its elevation from National Monument status.

    Then jump north to a 14.4-mile segment in Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho on the occasion of its Centennial celebration.

    Return to Maine for a visit to Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, a run of the Millinocket Marathon & Half, and a final marathon-length distance over the 3 peaks of Baxter State Park that are 4000 feet or higher, finishing the 239.4-mile virtual race atop Katahdin's Baxter Peak, the highest in Maine and the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

    (This virtual race is not officially affiliated with any real-life races other than having previously been the virtual edition of the Maine Sea to Summit Series co-sponsored by acadiaonmymind.com and runmdi.org. And it is not officially affiliated with any National Parks or Monuments, other than helping to support Friends of Acadia, a partner of Acadia National Park, or with any state parks, the AMC, or the Olympics.)

    How to participate:

    Wherever you are in the world, you can virtually run, hike or walk and log your miles. Plus there is a dropdown calculator that allows you to convert minutes spent bicycling, swimming, cross-country skiing, doing calisthenics and other activities to a running-walking mileage equivalent.

    Watch your avatar move along on a map from Acadia to Katahdin, criss-crossing the map, jumping from segment to segment. Get pop-up Google Street Views where available as you land on spots along the virtual race map. Click on red pindrops near where you land on the map to find out fun facts. Invite family and friends to join no matter where they are - a perfect way to keep up and explore America's parks, virtually.

    You have until 11:59 PM EST on December 31, 2024, to complete the segments. You can backdate miles to July 1, 2024, but log them one day at a time chronologically to get the maximum virtual race experience.

    New option to put in your hometown upon registration, so that your avatar starts off in your state of residence before you log your first miles in Acadia. Also new: The option to synch with Strava, but remember to also log your comments directly in Racery so that the non-Strava virtual racers can keep up with what you're up to.

    To ensure you cross the finish line and to take into account any mileage rounding issues, be sure to log a few extra tenths of a mile. And if you opted in for special finisher's medal(s), coasters or magnets, they will be mailed upon conclusion of the race.

    Everyone is a winner, with medals, coasters and magnets mailed soon after December 31, whether you completed the segments by then or not. Mileage from this race and future races will count toward cumulative totals, allowing you to reach special milestones and recognition.     At least 5% of gross proceeds from the race go to help support Acadia National Park via the nonprofit Friends of Acadia, Millinocket via the nonprofit Millinocket Memorial Library, and National Parks Traveler.

    We've got racers all over the globe! To keep everyone on the same page, we've come up with some handy guidelines:

    • We rely on the honor system... you don't have to use a device to prove your miles -- a good map suffices.

    • Please only backdate mileage to the start of this race, or July 1, 2024.

    • No step counting, please use intentional miles.

    • Walking or running miles are the default activity, with other activities like bicycling in the activity dropdown menu! (NOTE: miles on a racer’s personal log are for all races they are in, over all sports)

    • Please attribute your mileage to the appropriate day -- don’t combine mileage from multiple days.

    • Miles submitted after the race ends will not count toward race leaderboards.
