      It has been a crazy fall with the school year. Besides my classes (honors and AP physics), I taught astronomy for 6 weeks at the start and then anatomy for 3 weeks as soon as that teacher came back.       That is it, and some people have already signed up when they searched on the Internet. But I haven't finished the course yet, so there will be some changes in the route and the name of the race on the bib will also change. So if it doesn't matter to you, you can sign up now rather than wait until I'm finished. Should be done tonight, and you can always backdate miles to Jan. 1 if you don't have a chance to log miles today. Sorry was so busy with year-end stuff, couldn't start designing the course until today. Thanks for your patience!

      Here are the details of meet-up in Millinocket this Saturday: Pre-race warm-up beginning at 8 am at Mooseprints Gallery and Gifts at 102 Penobscot Ave, near the start line. Hard to believe, but it's the 10th anniversary of the real-life race, and Mooseprints has a special commemorative collection of gifts available, and offers a $100 gift card drawing: https://www.mooseprintsgall...       Hi @jackrabbit67 - glad to see the technical issue appeared to have resolved itself. The way to reach me if you have trouble getting through to racery is to tag me, @AOMM - otherwise, you can try emailing racery directly, team@racery.com. Seems Microsoft's hotmail continues to be glitchy, even though racery tried to make some adjustments to minimize Microsoft treating racery emails as spam. Hope you keep getting notifications without interruption for the rest of 2025 and beyond!

      Hi @jackrabbit67 and @DrI - sorry haven't had chance to catch up on bulletin board messages until now. Apparently Microsoft has been marking as spam some of the Racery emails that get sent as a result of "likes" - that's why anyone using hotmail periodically stops receiving all Racery emails, @jackrabbit67 - I'll have to ask Racery to get Microsoft to unblock the emails to you again. What Racery told me they were doing to try to address the problem: Still allow people to see likes when on the Racery platform, but stopping the likes from triggering emails. But if anyone specifically tags you @DrI with a comment, that should still trigger an email, without triggering Microsoft's anti-spam filter. Hope it's not too inconvenient to check the Racery platform for likes, @DrI - but if folks would rather get emails everytime someone likes an activity, Racery says they could change it back. But it might mean hotmail users could continue to be periodically blocked from receiving all Racery emails, and a special request to unblock would need to be made. Not sure if this is also the reason @MA.ME.MD.Walker, you haven't always been getting emails - let me know if you're still having the problem, and I can make a special request to Racery on that issue as well. As I don't have a chance to check this message board every day, always feel free to tag @AOMM - as that will automatically trigger an email to me. Thanks for everyone's patience with the technical gliches!

      Oh that makes perfect sense @AOMM ! I am totally fine with no email for every “like”, checking Racery platform and just getting an email for comments or tagging etc! Especially if that means hotmail users like @jackrabbit67 don’t get dropped from all notifications and then require a special unblocking. Thanks so much for clearing up the confusion(at least for me😅) @AOMM. Thank you for all that you continue to do and hope that you get some rejuvenating rest from all that you do.😌

If you're unable to put them in, feel free to tag @AOMM, which will trigger an email that I'll get. Let me know how many more miles, for what date, and what activities, that you need Racery to put in for you. Then I can email them about that, as well as about unblocking your hotmail from the Microsoft spam filter. Sorry for the inconvenience - Microsoft and technology!

      All of a sudden I am receiving emails every day saying that I have not opened any notifications in over a week and that I am being unsubscribed. I click to keep subscribed. I never received these notices and now it is every single day or every other day.

      @MA.ME.MD.Walker I found that you have to open all notifications via email including the summary of the day and previous day. It unsubscribed me if I didn’t-but maybe there’s a glitch somewhere?😩 But if I only opened the notifications on the app and not the email it unsubscribed me.

      Leave it to Microsoft! I'll let Racery know, but as it's the weekend, not sure how soon before hotmail issue is fixed. I think you have a workaround that you've been able to use before, to allow you to get in without the daily reminder with link. My favorite workaround, so that I don't need to have access to email to log in: Use a 4-digit passcode, so that if I don't have access to email, all I need to do is type in my email and then the associated 4-digit passcode, and I'm in. I tend to keep my device logged in, so that I don't even need to use the passcode. Will keep you posted on what I hear back from Racery.
      @AOMM well pass code is beyond my understanding. I just enter from old posts. It’s just annoying! Thanks

      Good morning @mdijim - thanks for your suggestion of incorporating the Grand Canyon into the virtual race. Hard to believe it's "only" about 25 miles from North Rim to South, but it's a steeper climb back up than scaling Katahdin. To amend the post, in the upper right hand corner, click on the flower- or cog-like feature in the upper right hand corner, and select "delete" from the drop-down. You then need to re-enter the entry the way you would like it. There's no "edit" function - just delete and re-enter. Hope that helps!

    Virtually race from the top of Cadillac and over the rest of the 26 peaks of Acadia National Park. Jump across the Atlantic to Spain and virtually race a marathon distance along El Camino, along the original route of ancient pilgrims following the Way of St. James.

    Next, to mark the 50th anniversary of Voyageurs National Park, head back to the US, landing in Minnesota for another marathon distance in what the Park Service calls "a park of water, islands, and horizons."

    Then go west virtual racers - to Grand Canyon National Park. Start on the North Rim, descend more than 8,000 feet to the Colorado River, then climb more than 6,000 feet to the South Rim. Tour Mather Point, Hopi Point and other scenic spots along this 37.4-mile Arizona segment, ending at Hermit's Rest.

    Then come on back to Maine, tour Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, virtually run the Millinocket Marathon & Half, and climb the 3 peaks of Baxter State Park that make the cut of the AMC's New England Four Thousand Footer list. Finish atop Katahdin, the state's highest peak.

    Details of the 7-segment, 226.9-mile course:

    Start atop Cadillac, the first place to see the sun rise in the USA between Oct. 7 and March 6, and virtually climb all 26 peaks of Acadia on Mount Desert Island in the first 59 miles of this virtual race.

    Then hop across the Atlantic to Spain for a 26.2-mile segment along El Camino, following the footsteps of the ancient pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela.

    Return to the States to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota with another 26.2-mile segment. "Raise a canteen to 50 years," as the Park Service proclaims.

    Head west for a 37-mile tour of Grand Canyon National Park - too dangerous to hike from North Rim to South Rim in real-life in the summer heat, but safe to run, hike and walk it at any time of the year virtually! - and travel through the rock of ages.

    Return to Maine for a visit to Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, a run of the Millinocket Marathon & Half, and a final marathon-length distance over the 3 peaks of Baxter State Park that are 4000 feet or higher, finishing the 226.9-mile virtual race atop Katahdin's Baxter Peak, the highest in Maine and the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

    (This virtual race is not officially affiliated with any real-life races other than having previously been the virtual edition of the Maine Sea to Summit Series co-sponsored by acadiaonmymind.com and runmdi.org. And it is not officially affiliated with any National Parks or Monuments, other than helping to support Friends of Acadia, a partner of Acadia National Park; Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters, a partner of the National Monument; or with any state park, the AMC, or El Camino.)

    How to participate:

    Wherever you are in the world, you can virtually run, hike or walk and log your miles. Plus there is a dropdown calculator that allows you to convert minutes spent bicycling, swimming, cross-country skiing, doing calisthenics and other activities to a running-walking mileage equivalent.

    Watch your avatar move along on a map from Acadia to Katahdin, criss-crossing the map, jumping from segment to segment. Get pop-up Google Street Views where available as you land on spots along the virtual race map. Click on red pindrops near where you land on the map to find out fun facts. Invite family and friends to join no matter where they are - a perfect way to keep up and explore America's parks, virtually.

    You have until 11:59 PM EST on December 31, 2025, to complete the segments. You can backdate miles to July 1, 2025, but log them one day at a time chronologically to get the maximum virtual race experience.

    New option to put in your hometown upon registration, so that your avatar starts off in your state of residence before you log your first miles in Acadia. Also new: The option to synch with Strava, but remember to also log your comments directly in Racery so that the non-Strava virtual racers can keep up with what you're up to.

    To ensure you cross the finish line and to take into account any mileage rounding issues, be sure to log a few extra tenths of a mile. And if you opted in for special finisher's medal, coasters or magnets, they will be mailed upon conclusion of the race.

    Everyone is a winner, with medals, coasters and magnets mailed soon after December 31, whether you completed the segments by then or not. Mileage from this race and future races will count toward cumulative totals, allowing you to reach special milestones and recognition.     At least 5% of gross proceeds from the race go to help support Acadia National Park via the nonprofit Friends of Acadia, Millinocket via the nonprofit Millinocket Memorial Library, Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument via the nonprofit Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters, and National Parks Traveler.

    We've got racers all over the globe! To keep everyone on the same page, we've come up with some handy guidelines:

    • We rely on the honor system... you don't have to use a device to prove your miles -- a good map suffices.

    • Please only backdate mileage to the start of this race, or July 1, 2025.

    • No step counting, please use intentional miles.

    • Walking or running miles are the default activity, with other activities like bicycling in the activity dropdown menu! (NOTE: miles on a racer’s personal log are for all races they are in, over all sports)

    • Please attribute your mileage to the appropriate day -- don’t combine mileage from multiple days.

    • Miles submitted after the race ends will not count toward race leaderboards.
